Reflective Log

??/??/2020 - 05/10/2020:
Yes I know I'm meant to be putting stuff in here. I can at least acknowledge this log exists.
I guess I can say a few things for now though:

  • I find the practical to be much more enjoyable than theory.
  • Re-learning Photoshop and Premiere was nice.
  • My perfectionism is consistently being a problem as I want the work to be 'perfect' and I'm almost never 100% satisfied with it so I keep wasting time. (I reflect more on this for the 2nd photoshop lesson in skills development)
  • Passport tasks are throwing me off more than it should. (Like why are we doing page 3 in Portrait and why does the front cover text have to be edited when passport covers, at least the UK and US ones, are really basic in design?)

??/10/2020:

I learned more of InDesign and finally got the 'Media Passport' in a finished state, including replacing the temporary image with one of the silliest portrait photos I've ever taken of myself. It's particually noteworthy as I hate taking and seeing pictures of myself, so making it really silly is a coping mechanism.

I really liked how the 2nd page came out, except I maybe should have chosen a fancier font for accuracy.

14/10/2020:

I analyzed two gaming magazine spreads, seeing what they do to make them stand out.

I had assumed that text across pages in magazines was a standard of what not to do. I realise now that's not exactly true.

16/10/2020:

I created a magazine spread and it is practically done already.

I might replace all of the placeholder text for my own later, because I'm surprised how well this actually came out. It helped me be more familiar with InDesign.

The image on the 2nd page might be replaced with the exotic landscape at a later date.

19/10/2020:

I made significant progress on the landscape composite (technical details are bullet pointed in Skills Development).

My aim was, of course, a japanese exotic landscape with a purple theme.
My intention was to make everything blend well, even with the purple theme and make it more 'believable'.
I think it came out as I wanted it to, but wished I could use/make a purple space background of my own instead of using one from the internet that I couldn't find the source for.
